10K training plan for 55:00

Bea runs three days and wants 55 minutes.

Bea is 39 and has run for two years: three days a week, about 15 km, and a 58:40 10K a month ago. Ten weeks to take almost four minutes off it.

Built by Tuin on 9 September 2026
Shown from this week, so it reads like a plan starting today — every weekday, distance and session is exactly as it was written.

The runner is made up. The plan is not: it is exactly what Tuin built from these numbers, through the same door every athlete's first plan goes through. It was written in Spanish — the other two languages are translated word for word, never renumbered, and strength exercises are named from a standard glossary so they read the same everywhere.

Why this plan looks like this

Two years of running and nothing structured in any of them: Bea's eight weeks are three honest, similar runs a week, which is the profile where a plan makes the biggest difference and where it is easiest to overdo. So the first thing this one does is make the week bigger without making any single run harder — the hard sessions arrive later, and there are fewer of them than she probably expects.

What the coach said, handing it over

Here's your first plan toward the fall 10K (December 20), designed to drop from 58:40 to 55:00. I'm using your September 10K (58:40) as a reference for your current pace and your ~13 km/week actual mileage from this past month — I'm assuming you can maintain your three days (Tuesday/Thursday/Sunday) and add a strength day (Friday), and that your long run can grow little by little from the 7-8 km you already know without jumping into it all at once. We start tomorrow Thursday with an easy run and Sunday with a long run; starting next week we'll add the quality day on Tuesdays. The block builds volume carefully (a recovery week every 3-4), brings race pace into the long runs in November, and the final week is truly a taper week, not just easy runs: short intervals on Tuesday, strides on Saturday, and race day Sunday the 20th. If you find that 15-18 km/week feels short or long, let me know and I'll adjust it — and if you have a threshold number or a more recent race, even better to fine-tune the paces.

The plan, week by week

Sixteen weeks is a lot to scroll. Every week is folded — open the ones you want, and week one is open already.
